Every year I dread the month of May. It used to be my favorite time of year until that day in May eleven years ago. It makes the spring-time a season of mixed emotions.
May 23 has come and gone, and yes we survived. May 24 (today) is the date we actually found out Liz was gone, so with a heavy heart I will make a trip to the cemetery to place an arrangement on her grave. No matter how you think about it, it still doesn't seem right that your child dies before you do.
Oh, I know that God has done so much over the eleven years since her death. I don't deny that, nor do I want to. I simply miss my daughter. God certainly understands it.
The ministry that God has given us, the lives that have been touched (ours included) are still active. We continue to share our story and will do so until the Lord tells us our time is done.
I am hoping that in the end we will hear a "well done" from God. Despite the fact that we are still human and make foolish mistakes! We still continue to step out in faith and go where we are asked to go. We certainly do not have anything to share of ourselves, we can only share what God has done, while we stand to the side and watch Him move.
A couple of weeks ago we had to say good-bye to another person that has meant so much to us in our christian walk. We had the awesome privilege of going to New York City to attend the memorial service for Brother David Wilkerson. This humble man of God was the instrument God chose to change the lives of millions of people world-wide. www.worldchallenge.org or www.timessquarechurch.org
Why do we have to say good-bye to those we love? The one and ONLY consolation we have and the ONLY hope we have of ever seeing our loved ones again is ETERNITY.
